James Meadows BSc (Hons), Dip , BWLC
James graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of the West of England. His dissertation study investigated the relationship between personality and motivations to exercise. After graduating, he completed a premier Diploma in Personal Training. James worked as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at the University of the West of England for over 3 years. Whilst working there, he worked on The Bristol School Sports Partnership’s Gifted and Talented Young Athlete’s programme for 3 years, training some of the most talented school age athletes in the region.
James is a qualified GP referral specialist and is the Sports Centre’s GP referral coordinator for Cambridge City Council’s Start Up referral scheme. James has extensive experience working with special populations, having managed the GP referral scheme at Frome Leisure Centre for over 2 years.
James has been working at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre since August 2013. During this time James has worked with athletes from a range of clubs including American football, cricket, fencing and lightweight rowing.
James has an interest in Olympic weightlifting and has competed in regional weightlifting competitions. He is a qualified BWL Level 1 Olympic weightlifting coach and coaches the Sports Centre’s barbell club sessions.
